Type Locality and Naming
The type section lies around Mingyue Town, Antu County, Jilin. It was named by the compiling group for Regional Stratigraphic Scale of Jilin Province in 1978.
Lithology and Thickness
Claystone, Limestone and Volcaniclastics. A suite of mélange accumulation of clastic rock, volcanic rock and limestone. Lower part consists mainly of slate, intercalated with tuffaceous slate and crinoid-stem limestone. Middle part is dominated by chert band-bearing limestone, intercalated with thick-bedded limestone, clayey limestone and minor siltstone and slate. Upper part consists of gray-black siltstone, slate, crystalline limestone and chert nodule-bearing limestone, intercalated with 1−3 layers of acid volcanic rock, with tuffaceous conglomerate at bottom. Total thickness >2449 m, with a disconformable plane between the middle and upper parts.

Regional extent
Distributed at Mingyue Town and Beitanggou of Antu County, and Tianbaoshan, Yiquan, Qingquan and Hutian of Yanji County, varying in metamorphism grade.

Fossils
Carboniferous fossils were collected in limestone near Mingyuegou, but not formally reported. At the West Hill of Chencaigou, Tianbaoshan (Mt.), Yanji County, the Upper clayey limestone yields Coral Caninia sp. and crinoid stems Cyclocylicus tieni and C. circumvalatus.
